Leah Kudel, wearing yellow, is competing in Blown Away, a Netflix show about glass blowers. She was living in New Zealand at the time, working at a glass studio, and they flew her back to North America to compete. “I decided I had never heard of anything like it, so I decided that it’d be fun to apply,” says Kudel, a 2015 graduate of Alberta University of the Arts’ glass program in Calgary.Īfter sending in a questionnaire and images of her art, she was picked after Skype interviews with the show’s producers.
